2004, Tsunami has destroyed major part of “Royal Sea Wind” at Polhena, Matara.

With small beginning in 1993 the restaurant progressed to provide the best tourist service in the southern town of Matara.

Tourist from Europe, America, Canada and number of other countries visits the restaurant round the year.

Restaurant / Hotel had to be expanded to accommodate foreign tourist, a new wing was constructed complete with foreign require bar and room facilities.

Island wide tours were arranged for the interested visitors, trips to Yala sanctuary in deep-south of the island were frequent.

The damage caused by the tidal waves is so great, to restore it back to former state considerable funds are necessary, which is beyond my reach presently. According to estimate of civil engineer the cost will be around $ 82,000.

As this restaurant was not covered by insuarance for natural disasters the facilities were denied.
